IQAir is one of the oldest air purification companies in the industry today. With a wide assortment of commercial units that have been used in clean rooms and laboratories world wide, it is no wonder that IQAir is equated with quality. They have recently moved into the residential sector, offering their top of the line air purifiers for use in your own home.

IQAir is a family based company that began developing air purifiers in 1963. The technology was in its infancy at the time, and they were one of the first to begin developing new ways to clean the air. The founder suffered from allergies and asthma and wanted to develop a product that would help him breath easier. Their first prototype consisted of a simple fiber screen that was meant to filter out air pollutants. Throughout the years, they began to see the need for good commercial products and began creating units designed for clean rooms and laboratories.

Originally based in Germany, they moved to Switzerland in 1978, and are still located there today. Their products are well known throughout Europe and played an integral part in the SARS outbreak containment in 2003. In 2004, the company became registered through the U.S. food and drug administration for hospital use in the United States.

IQAir is best known for their commercial units. But, they are working towards gaining the same kind of recognition in the residential market as well. Their products have been featured in the popular television series “Extreme Makeover.” The renovation show has featured several episodes where they have installed various IQAir systems within the homes, to provide sterile home environments. Many of the homeowners had weakened immune systems, and IQAir set out to provide healthier homes.

IQAir’s top selling residential unit is the HealthPro Series. Prices range from $600-800 U.S. and feature top of the line Hepa filtration technology. Their clean room models vary in price and features.
